Everyday we make choices about where we get our food and from whom! Way up high on the list is enhancing your health by eating foods that are not processed commercially in a factory. These foods are denatured and dangerous. Most people have no idea how dangerous and, in fact, are mislead everyday by health claims made on packaged foods!
You probably don’t realize this but the birthright of every human is PERFECT health, perfect bodies, perfect teeth and perfect babies generation after generation, free of the diseases of modern life! If you have any doubts about this then you must read Physical Degeneration and Nutrition by Weston Price, I just finished it. Things like cavities, impacted wisdom teeth, crooked teeth, crowded mouths where teeth, don’t fit in is actually a deformity of the skull caused by inadequate maternal nutrition during pregnancy, or inadequate nutrition before pregnancy on the part of one or both the parents. The new study of epigentics is verifying this with modern science. Not only is a good portion of our modern diet deadly poison to us, but to our unborn children, and to theirs’.
The shortest route to reclaiming this BIRTH RIGHT and our current health right now is to TOSS THE BOX!!! To accomplish that try taking my challenge and return to a diet of real food, FOOD WITHOUT BAR CODES! I avoid commercially processed foods as much as possible. My motto, if you can’t pronounce it, it isn’t food and should be avoided. (When buying processed foods one should at least read the ingredients and try to only purchase organically grown food that is comprised entirely of whole food ingredients.
Nowadays, a motivated individual can access all the food items that they would need to have a healthy varied diet for themselves and their families without the need to buy to go beyond my 90/10 recommended. My 90/10 rule means trying to limit your food intake to 90% fresh whole foods without barcodes, and just 10% that is commercially processed). Another way to look at it, if you shop in a grocery store, 90% of the food in your basket would be real food like vegetables, meat, cheeses and dairy. Most everything in your basket would not come in a box, a bag, or a bottle.
One of the things that appeals to me about the local-vore movement is that people are regaining a sense that whole foods grown without chemicals are important! We are awaking to the primal knowledge that the animals and plants are not only important but sacred! And we are re-evaluating our relationships with the people who grow and raise our food, especially those few committed individuals who practice holistic farming and ranching techniques. The more we commit to supporting them the better!
When all is said and done, and the last label is read, and you’ve delved deeper into the realization that you don’t have to eat out of bag your whole life you begin to lose your appetite for these foods that used to hold such great appeal. That loss of appetite is the first step in allowing yourself to start opting out of the mainstream food supply. For me it took 3 years to really make the committment, and another 3 years to reach our 90/10 goal overall. In the last year we regularly achieve 100% nobarcodes almost everyday of the week.
